Kaamospelit - folk music in Vantaa 2012

22nd Kaamospelit, the Vantaa folk music week, is held 10.-18.11.2012.

Program is quite Nordic again. We are going to take influences from Nu-Nordic music scene also in forthcoming years. Here you'll find the festival program 2012 in English. More information about the artists, the history of the festival etc. in Finnish on our website.

	Saturday 10.11. at 11-14 Shopping center Tikkuri, Asematie 4-10 YHTÄ SOITTOA Folk music groups from Vantaa and the neighbour cities and groups from the Vantaa music institute perform in the shopping centre.

	Tuesday 13.11. at 19 St. Lawrence's church (Pyhän Laurin kirkko), Kirkkotie 45 CHURCH CONCERT: Fiuleja Ensemble Musicians of Fiuleja Ensemble have started playing fiddle together already 25 years ago in the Näppärit-group founded by Mauno Järvelä in Kaustinen. 	Wednesday 14.11. at 19, foyer of Martinus Concert Hall, Martinlaaksontie 36 KAAMOSCLUB: Maria Kalaniemi & Timo Alakotila Maria Kalaniemi and Timo Alakotila are two of the most recognised musicians of the folk music scene in Finland. They have played in various different ensembles and concerts around the world and are pioneers in the field of new folk music. On the year 2012 they celebrate their 20 years career together as musicians with concerts and with new CD. 	Thursday 15.11. at 9.15 Children's' art house Toteemi, Myyrmäentie 6 CHILDRENS' CONCERT & WORKSHOP: Eppel & Peppel Story chest Eppel & Peppel (Juulia Salonen & Kirsi Ojala) combines folk music plying, singing and story telling. 	Friday 16.11. at 19, Culture House Vernissa, Tikkurilantie 36 NORDIC NIGHT: May Monday (FIN/UK/SWE) Karen Tweed, accordion; Timo Alakotila, piano; Roger Tallroth, guitar; Emma Reid, fiddle. - tradition melts into composition...breathtaking hypnosis of sound- They've made a speciality of marrying together their different musical roots (English, Irish, Scandinavian), styles and backgrounds, their playing so in harmony, they make music so beautiful, that if it doesn't continue to break down those musical barriers nothing will!" 	Friday 16.11. at 20.30, Cafe of Culture House Vernissa, Tikkurilantie 36 KAAMOS JAM AND DANCE SESSION In the jam session Finnish-German band Schäng Blasius Finnland Experience will play few sets, but otherwise the stage is open for everyone. 	Saturday 17.11. at 19 Påkas, Vanha kuninkaalantie 2 TUPASOITTO: Paraske- ja kantelesoolot: Ilona Korhonen & Maija Kauhanen Ilona Korhonen will immerse in the core of the old singing style, runolaulu: invent, modify, revise and improvise. 	Sunday 18.11. at 15 Viertola school, Liljatie 2 VANTAAN SOTTIISI Vantaalaisia pelimanniyhtyeitä ja pelimanneja.
